SRINAGAR: The nomination of three candidates had been rejected throughout scrutiny of papers for Jammu Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday, leaving 23 candidates within the fray, officers stated.

The Lok Sabha polls in Jammu constituency can be held within the second part of elections on April 26.

Returning Officer for Jammu parliamentary constituency Sachin Kumar Vaishya, performed the scrutiny of nomination papers submitted by the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, they stated.

After thorough scrutiny, the nomination types of 23 candidates had been discovered legitimate, whereas the candidature of three candidates, two overlaying candidates – Chanranjeet Chargotra (BSP) and Indra Bhalla (Congress) – and Unbiased Ravinder Singh, had been rejected as per norms, the officers stated.

A overlaying candidate is fielded as a again up by events in case the principle nominee’s papers get rejected by the returning officer.

Among the many 23 candidates, BJP’s incumbent MP Jugal Kishore and Raman Bhalla of Congress are engaged in a direct battle.

Jagdish Raj of Bahujan Samaj Occasion and Ankur Sharma of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal are the opposite distinguished candidates from the seat.

As per the issued election notification, the candidates can withdraw their nomination earlier than 3 pm on April 8 within the workplace of the returning officer.
