SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Kashmir’s chief cleric, expressed deep dismay over authorities’ resolution to ban observances of key non secular occasions together with Jumatul Vida, Shab-e-Qadr, and Eid prayers on the Jama mosque.
He criticized the contradiction between optimistic public statements about Kashmir’s state of affairs and actions proscribing non secular freedom. “Each time the mosque is locked down and I’m detained at dwelling, their claims get uncovered,” he acknowledged.
