New Delhi, Nov 29: The United Nationwide Liberation Entrance (UNLF), an extremist group working in Manipur, on Wednesday signed a peace settlement with the federal government and agreed to surrender violence, Union Residence Minister Amit Shah introduced right here.
The UNLF is the oldest Imphal valley-based armed group in Manipur.
“A historic milestone achieved!!! Modi govt’s relentless efforts to determine everlasting peace within the Northeast have added a brand new chapter of fulfilment because the United Nationwide Liberation Entrance signed a peace settlement as we speak in New Delhi.
“UNLF, the oldest valley-based armed group of Manipur, has agreed to surrender violence and be a part of the mainstream. I welcome them to the democratic processes and need all of them the perfect of their journey on the trail of peace and progress,” Shah mentioned in a put up on X.
The peace settlement with the UNLF by the federal government of India and the federal government of Manipur marks the top of a six-decade-long armed motion, Shah mentioned.
