UDHAMPUR. Dec 26: State Taxes Division has imposed penalty of Rs 1.71 crores on autos/defaulters from April 2023 to Dec 2023 for transporting items in contravention of GST Act/Guidelines.
The enforcement actions have been carried out in all of the 5 Districts of Jammu North viz Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur on the instructions of Commissioner State Tax J&Ok, Dr Rashmi Singh and Addl Commissioner, State Taxes (Adm & Enforcement), Jammu, Namrita Dogra beneath a number of sections together with Sec 129 of GST Act 2017.
Deputy Commissioner Enforcement, Jammu North, Anil Kumar Chandail monitored the groups headed by State Tax Officers Bhupinder Singh, Rohit Sharma and Inspectors for day by day enforcement actions wherein round 27000 autos have been intercepted/checked, 200,000 EWay Payments have been verified apart from realization of the penalty quantity.
Particular focus was laid on scrap items from the place an quantity of Rs 56 lakh was realised from 48 autos. Division is focussing on the mass consciousness/sensitization of the taxpayers and the customers for extra compliance of the GST norms and income realization, stated a press assertion, issued by the division.
