But today’s topic – least visited countries in the world, may sound gloomy to an extent but it has its own share of beauty, and today we will talk about this grey side of traveling;
A country can be the least visited country because of various reasons it could be politics, environment, or safety issues because of different reasons.
But that does not mean that a least visited country has nothing to visit for travelers, there are so many places and countries that are least visited but they have some majestic or historic destinations or sites that one should behold in their memory.
KIRIBATI
Isolated faraway isles, whose closest neighbor is Fiji at a distance of 1,394 miles away, lagoons barely peeks above the central Pacific waters in Kiribati.
And because it is in this list of some of the least visited countries in the world, it’s pretty obvious that not many travelers make the journey here, but those who do, will experience a rich tradition of hospitality, and if you are lucky you can secure an invitation to a traditional feast or Botaki.
And if you are lucky enough like many others to attend the traditional feast, you will get to see dancers in pandanus skirts, drums beating out traditional rhythms, and then devour the savory taste of breadfruit, taro, and sprouted coconut.
TUVALU
Tuvalu has 100 tiny islands that are scattered across the South Pacific and only the main island – Funafuti has the airport facility, from there one can continue traveling by passenger ferry.
This hive of beautiful islands is on this list of least visited countries in the world because sadly but it truly is among the list of the world’s isolated nations because rising seas could swamp this low-lying country anytime.
Everything has its sunny side as well and the case of Tuvalu is not different. This place is free from the crowd that fills places like Fiji. These islands are mini heaven bodies at risk of extinction any moment, you can spend a lazy afternoon there while watching flying fishes skimming the water or stay in a coral reef or hammock or stroll powdered sugar beaches to make a memory full of rush and excitement as well as fear.
MARSHALL ISLANDS
This island has a rare combination of bombs and bathing suits, this island was home to United States’ Nuclear testing. Decades later, with some still radioactive sites, this place has some most spectacular scuba diving sites.
Make your first dive and see the USS Saratoga, the eyewitness that was present at the battle of Iwo Jima, and then it was used as the ship for nuclear target practice. Divers will find the shipwrecks that are blooming with colorful coral reefs, and fishes threading between bombs at the ship’s metal decks.
As exciting as it sounds, this is a place that should not be on this list of least visited countries in the world, but what can one do!!
NIUE
Imagine rugged and cave-pocked coast, etched in sharp coral, that’s Niue, a Polynesian island without gentle waves and soft sand which makes it a great candidate of our list of least visited countries in the world.
On the island which is used by humpback whales as a warm water nursery, you can watch them lolling close enough from the island shore. From July through October, one can hear the sound of whales’ slapping tails and songs above the sea breeze.
Travelers can even join trained guides to have an experience of swimming with the humpback whales. Let’s get ready to swim along with some bus-sized whales!!
MONTSERRAT
Montserrat’s Soufriere Hills Volcano has shaped the landscape of this Caribbean Island with its incendiary forces.

Decades after, the jungle has amphibious vehicles, rusting tanks, and fox holes, all reminders of haunting battles. Not only land, but the sea has also sunken seaplanes, oil tankers, and submarines.
For divers, scuba diving in the Solomon Islands is a chance to see that how sea life colonizes the remains of a brutal war. It’s a sub-aquatic museum for the divers, with remains and proofs of war and sea life in front of their eyes together.

COMOROS
This is a beauty that surprisingly is in our list of least visited countries in the world, located in the ocean between Madagascar and Mozambique, Comoros has clear water and pale beaches that should attract travelers but sadly with few tourists and little development, Comoros is in our grey list of today.
For the travelers there is a surprise in the air too, known as the “Perfume isles”, Comoros has been cultivating aromatic plants since the French colonial era.
The breeze is mixed with the exotic aroma of ylang-ylang trees and cloves, vanilla, jasmine as well as lemongrass, and bergamot.
SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE
This biodiversity hotspot is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where new species are found on a daily basis.
An unexpected add-on in our list of least visited countries in the world that should not be new or unknown to a passionate nature lover, located in Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, both islands are packed with endemic plants and animals.
Travelers will find begonias grown as high as a house, a lot of orchid species, and birds in every hue and corner. Look carefully into the foliage and you may spot a creature or flower that is yet to be discovered and documented by scientists.
FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA
With 607 islands here, if you spend one day on every island, you will need more than a year and a half to explore the Federated States of Micronesia completely.
The largest island in the FSM is proof of the shaping of archipelagos by humans for centuries.
Off the island’s southeastern coast is the site of Nan Madol, a UNESCO world heritage site that has 100 man-made islets.
The FSM is an ancient ceremonial center that is rising from the ocean.
A place so ancient and historic yet many of the islands are uninhabited, that’s the reason a place like this is in our list of least visited countries in the world.
DJIBOUTI
A place that will give you an otherworldly experience with its landscape.
Djibouti has White salt beaches of the lake Assal, steam coming from the Ardoukoba Volcano, and camels grazing amidst lunar towers of Lake Abbe.
Visitors can spot bubble gum-colored flamingos and nomadic Afar people, leading their flocks to graze, all this has carved a life in this harsh environment.
To have an off-planet experience with a cost that is not as costly as traveling in a space flight, one should really try to visit this least visited country on our list.
SIERRA LEONE
This west African country has faced hardships from the civil war to Ebola outbreaks in recent decades, but that also gives us a reason to help this country’s recovering tourist economy, so in the future, hopefully, it will not appear in any list of least visited countries in the world.
Sierra has sceneries of powdery beaches, nesting sea turtles and surf breaks, everything that should attract and excite a traveler.
GUINEA
The next-door neighbor to Sierra Leone is Guinea, with scenic highlands guinea is among West Africa’s most amazing places to hike.
With powerful rivers flowing from the forests of Fouta Djallon, where you can have a snack by plucking a mango or an avocado from a nearby tree, travelers will experience rain-flush waterfalls, sharp canyons, and a memorable behavior of Guinean hospitality.
