SRINAGAR, Jan 5: The anti-corruption Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday arrested a Block Growth Council member whereas accepting a bribe within the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
The complainant filed a proper criticism with the Anti-Corruption Bureau in opposition to two public servants who allegedly demanded a bribe in alternate for the issuance of a disposal allow.
In response to the allegations, the complainant, an authorized materials supplier utilized for a disposal authorization from DMO Ganderbal after fulfilling all authorized necessities.
“The issuance of the allow was delayed on one or the opposite pretext. When the complainant approached DMO Ganderbal Majid Aziz, the complainant was requested to go to BDC member Gowhar Ahmad and do no matter he demanded”, mentioned an ACB spokesman in an announcement.
The assertion provides, “The complainant accordingly approached Gowhar Ahmad who demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 for the issuance of a doc out of which ₹10,000 was to be paid prematurely at the moment.”
The assertion reads that the complainant selected to not pay bribe and as an alternative approached Anti-Corruption Bureau to take authorized motion in opposition to the accused public servant as offered below legislation. “On receipt of the criticism, a Case FIR No. 01/2024 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up.”
The group, the assertion reads, laid a profitable entice and caught the accused BDC member crimson handed whereas demanding and accepting bribe quantity of ₹10,000 from the complainant. The cash was recovered from the accused on the spot.
“Additional investigation into the case is occurring,” reads the assertion.
