Singapore: Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday stated that Article 370 was a brief measure and it prevented very progressive legal guidelines from being prolonged to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Addressing the Indian neighborhood members in Singapore, Jaishankar stated that the advantages of the change at the moment are seen.
The minister stated that Article 370 was a brief measure of the Indian Structure and by extending it, two issues occurred, which harmed us as a nation.
“One, it created an ethos of separatism, violence and terrorism. And this grew to become an issue for the safety of your entire nation. Second, it prevented very progressive legal guidelines from being prolonged to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh at that time,” he added.
In August 2019, the Indian authorities abrogated Article 370 of the Structure, revoking the particular standing of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the State into two Union Territories.
