Centre Sanctions Rs 152.30 Crore PMGSY Package deal For Upgradation Of Roads In J&K

JAMMU, Feb 17: The Centre has sanctioned a Rs 152.30-crore bundle for upgrading 12 roads having a complete size of 134 km and a bridge challenge in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesperson stated on Saturday.
The bundle beneath the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was authorized by the Union Ministry of Rural Growth.
With this, the spokesperson stated, a complete of 233 highway tasks spanning 1,750 km and 66 bridges falling within the alignment of those roads have been sanctioned for upgradation at an estimated price of Rs 2,245.46 crore beneath the PMGSY III programme for Jammu and Kashmir.
The PMGSY programme was launched in Jammu and Kashmir in 2001-02 to offer connectivity to unconnected habitations with a inhabitants above 250 as per the 2001 census.
Underneath this programme, 2,140 rural habitations have been discovered eligible to be linked. For this, the Ministry of Rural Growth sanctioned 3,425 works, together with 239 bridges (2,741 new connectivity works and 684 upgradation works), beneath PMGSY-I and II for the development of 19,049 km of roads at an estimated price of Rs 12,565 crore.

Underneath PMGSY-III, the spokesperson stated, 521.09 km of highway size has been upgraded up to now at a price of Rs 11,723.57 crore.

Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Rural Growth and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh for the approval of the highway infrastructure tasks.
In a press release, Sinha stated the highway upgradation tasks will profit tons of of habitations in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The 2-lane bridge for the border district of Poonch will guarantee higher ease of journey and join villages to prosperity and contribute to total socio-economic improvement, he stated.
