BAHRAICH (UP), Dec 3: A Chinese language nationwide lady was arrested at Rupaideha right here after she was caught crossing the enter Indo-Nepal border illegally, officers stated.
The lady, who was allegedly making an attempt to illegally cross the border to enter Nepal disguised as a Buddhish monk, was arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel on Saturday, they added.
In accordance with a senior official of the SSB, the lady had Nepalese visa on her Chinese language passport, legitimate from November 19, 2023, to February 16, 2024 in Nepal that confirmed her arrival on the Tribhuvan Airport in Nepal.
Investigations are underway to establish the aim of her entry into and exit from India. Particulars of her journey in India can also be being probed, the official stated.
The SSB has lodged a case beneath Part 4(A) of the Foreigners Act in opposition to the Chinese language lady on the Rupaideha police station and the accused is being interrogated, the official added.
SSB Commandant GS Adawat informed PTI on Sunday that the lady raised suspicion after she tried to cross into Nepal within the guise of a Buddhist monk.
In accordance with her passport, the accused has been recognized as Li Xinmei (45) who hails from Shandong in China, Adawat stated.
The commandant additional said that the lady was unable to understand both Hindi or English throughout preliminary questioning, prompting the necessity for an interpreter from India’s intelligence businesses to facilitate additional interrogation. (Companies)
