The snowfall within the plain areas started late Wednesday evening and continued until the morning at most locations, officers stated.
“It began as a mixture of rain and snow late final evening in Srinagar and different adjoining areas within the plains and by the morning, the valley was lined below a blanket of snow,” they stated.
Srinagar obtained round two inches of snowfall, Anantnag city 4 inches, Qazigund 9, Pahalgam 10, Pulwama city two, Kulgam city three, Shopian city 5, Ganderbal city two, Baramulla city three, Kupwara city 4, and Gulmarg 14 inches, the officers stated.
The upper reaches obtained reasonable to heavy snowfall, they added.
