Kiru Hydropower corruption case: CBI searches at premises of former governor Satya Pal Malik

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Thursday searches the premises of former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik and 29 different places in reference to alleged corruption within the Kiru Hydropower challenge, officers stated.

The company began its operation within the morning with round 100 officers mobilised to swoop down at 30 places in a number of cities, they stated.

The case pertains to alleged corruption in awarding civil works of the Kiru Hydro Electrical Energy Mission (HEP) value Rs 2,200 crore, they stated.

Malik, who was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir between August 23, 2018 and October 30, 2019 had claimed he was supplied a Rs 300-crore bribe for clearing two information, together with the one pertaining to the challenge.

“The case was registered on allegations of malpractices in award of the contract value roughly Rs 2,200 crore of civil works of Kiru Hydro Electrical Energy Mission(HEP) to a personal firm in 2019,” the CBI had had earlier stated.

The company has booked former chairman of the Chenab Valley Energy Initiatives (P) Ltd Navin Kumar Chaudhary and different former officers M S Babu, M Ok Mittal and Arun Kumar Mishra and Patel Engineering Ltd.

“Although a call was taken in forty seventh Board assembly of CVPPPL (Chenab Valley Energy Initiatives (P) Ltd) for re-tender by means of e-tendering with reverse public sale after cancellation of ongoing tendering course of, similar was not applied (as per choice taken in forty eighth board assembly) and tender was lastly awarded to Patel Engineering Ltd,” the FIR has alleged.

The company had carried out searches on the premises of 5 individuals in January in reference to the case.(Businesses)
