Mercury plummets in J&Okay as Srinagar, Jammu document lowest Feb temp in decade

Srinagar, Feb 08: Mercury recorded a drop in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday with Srinagar recording minus 5.2°C and three.6°C respectively, the second lowest minimal temperature in February in a decade for the capital cities.

A meteorological division official right here informed GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 5.2°C towards minus 2.0°C on the earlier evening and it was under regular by 4.8°C for the summer season capital of J&Okay for this time of the 12 months. Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 11.9°C towards minus 10.8°C on the earlier evening and it was 5.7°C under regular for the well-known resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, additionally in south Kashmir, recorded a minimal of minus 4.5°C towards minus 4.3°C on the earlier evening and the temperature was under regular by 2.5°C for the place, the official stated.

Kupwara city in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.5°C towards minus 3.3°C on the earlier evening and it was 3.4°C under regular there, the official stated.

Gulmarg, the official stated, recorded a low of minus 12.0°C towards minus 10.0°C on the earlier evening and the temperature was under regular by 3.4°C for the world well-known snowboarding resort in north Kashmir.

Jammu, he stated, recorded a minimal of three.6°C and it was under regular by 5.9°C for the winter capital of J&Okay. Jammu metropolis had recorded 3.6°C on 13 February final 12 months which was the earlier lowest in a decade for it.

Banihal recorded a low of minus 1.4°C, Batote 0.3°C and Bhaderwah minus 2.1°C, he stated.
