SRINAGAR: In a major operation carried out by joint safety forces within the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, a big cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, officers mentioned on Friday.
An official mentioned that performing on particular intelligence offered by the Border Safety Forces (BSF), a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Military’s 28 RR in Sogam forest led to the invention of a considerable amount of arms and ammunition at a hideout.
Officers suspected that the militants had deliberate to utilise the war-like shops in the course of the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Kupwara and Lolab areas.
“The recovered objects included an AK47 rifle, 5 AK magazines, 1135 AK rounds, 6 Below Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL), 5 hand grenades, 23 Chinese language hand grenades, 40 MM MGL rounds, 5 pistol magazines, 65 pistol rounds, 13 UBGL hand grenades, 1 improvised explosive gadget (IED), 175 rounds for a PIKA gun, 2 binoculars, 1 PNV sight, 1 blanket, and 1 poncho,” they mentioned.
“It is a main operation, which has dealt a major blow to the nefarious designs of PoJK-based terrorist teams who’ve persistently sought to disrupt peace and tranquility within the Kashmir Valley,” officers added.
In the meantime, a proper case has been registered on the Sogam Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated, officers added—(KNO)
