Mughal Highway opening could get delayed

Rajouri, Mar 27: Small snow slides that occurred over the past 24 hours partially affected the continued snow clearance operation on the Mughal Highway with 300 meters of street stretch cleared on Wednesday and a 1 km stretch now pending to succeed in Pir Ki Gali from Poonch facet.

The snow clearance work by the Mechanical Engineering Division is ongoing and 42.3 km of street from Bufliyaz facet was cleared until Tuesday night.

Assistant Engineer within the Mechanical Engineering Division, Tariq Ahmad instructed Larger Kashmir that many small slides occurred on the street within the final 2 km stretch at PKG facet and the deployed equipment cleared these slides resulting from which solely 300 meters of street stretch had been cleared on Wednesday.

He mentioned that now 1 km of street stretch is pending to succeed in Pir Ki Gali.

Ahmad mentioned that recent rainfall began within the space on Wednesday night and work was anticipated to be affected if the rainfall continued.

Speaking to Larger Kashmir, Government Engineer Mughal Highway Tasks, Shokat Ali mentioned that the Mechanical Engineering Division was finishing up the work however recent rainfall had began on Wednesday night.

“Though we predict the restoration of the street by the month’s finish, there’s a forecast of rainfall within the subsequent few days and heavy rainfall may cause some delay in restoration,” he mentioned.
