Govt Says Individuals Of Jammu And Kashmir Will Get ‘Political Reservation For First Time’
New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha on Friday handed three legislations referring to Jammu and Kashmir together with the invoice to offer reservation to Different Backward Courses in native our bodies to carry consistency within the native our bodies’ legal guidelines of the Union territory with the provisions of the Structure.

The three payments have been handed by Lok Sabha.
Minister of State for House Nityanand Rai replied to the talk on the Jammu and Kashmir Native Our bodies Legal guidelines (Modification) Invoice, 2024.
Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar answered the talk on the invoice referring to Scheduled Castes Order and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda to the invoice referring to Scheduled Tribes Order.
Munda stated that the three payments introduced after the abrogation of Article 370 had been geared toward giving justice to the folks of Jammu and Kashmir.
He stated the folks of Jammu and Kashmir will get “political reservation for the primary time”.
The Jammu and Kashmir Native Our bodies Legal guidelines (Modification) Invoice, 2024 seeks to offer reservation to Different Backward Courses within the panchayats and the municipalities in Jammu and Kashmir and to carry consistency within the native our bodies legal guidelines of the Union territory with the provisions of the Structure.
It seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act, 2000 and the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Company Act, 2000.
Officers stated that provisions pertaining to state Election Commissioner within the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act “are at variance” with the provisions of the Structure.
They stated stated Jammu and Kashmir administration had really useful the inclusion of the Valmiki group as a synonym of Chura, Bhangi, Balmiki, Mehtar at serial quantity 5 within the checklist of Scheduled Castes of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Structure (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order (Modification) Invoice, 2023 proposes to amend the Schedule of the Structure (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order, 1956 for inclusion of ‘Valmiki’.
The officers stated that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has requested for inclusion of the “Gadda Brahmin”, “Koli”, “Paddari Tribe” communities and “Pahari Ethnic Group” within the checklist of Scheduled Tribes.
The Structure (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Modification) Invoice, 2023 proposes to amend the Structure (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order, 1989.
