SRINAGAR: Police on Tuesday arrested a truck driver and confiscated 6,250 Kashmir willow clefts valued at Rs 50 Lakh from him within the Kathua space of Jammu and Kashmir, media studies stated.
The police crew, led by SHO PS Lakhanpur Insp Sunil Kumar Sharma, stopped a truck touring from Kathua to Punjab at a toll plaza in Lakhanpur. The truck was found to be loaded with what appeared to be willow clefts throughout inspection, whereas the motive force, recognized as Kuldeep Singh from Jalandhar was arrested.
The truck was laden with 5,000 full-size plain double Kashmir willow clefts, 750 full-size plain single Kashmir willow clefts, and 500 full measurement plain STR Kashmir willow clefts, studies recommend.
The automobile together with the confiscated materials was handed over to the Forest Division for additional verification..
