Rajya Sabha Elections for 15 States on Feb 27

SRINAGAR: The Election Fee of India on Monday introduced that polls for 56 Rajya Sabha seats can be held on February 27. The election for 56 seats can be held in 15 states.

The elections are being held as 50 incumbent RS members will conclude their time period on April 2 whereas the remaining six members will retire on April 3.

The election for RS could be held in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Rajasthan.

Apparently, Jammu and Kashmir continues to be unrepresented in Rajya Sabha for the second consecutive 12 months as 4 members from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir had accomplished their time period in February 2021.

Since then, the 4 RS seats of JK lie vacant within the Parliament. “The union territory will proceed to stay unrepresented in Rajya Sabha for some extra time as a result of elections to 4 vacant seats from Jammu and Kashmir usually are not potential because the union territory is with out its Meeting,” an official mentioned.
