Journalist seeks FIR towards Haryana Police after being hit by tear gasoline shells

A journalist, Neil Bhalinder, has approached the Punjab and Haryana Excessive Courtroom, urging the registration of an FIR towards Haryana Police officers.

The journalist alleges that he suffered extreme head accidents on February 13 whereas overlaying the farmers’ protest inside Punjab’s jurisdiction, Dwell Regulation reported.

Based on Bhalinder, a tear gasoline shell fired by Haryana Police struck him in the course of the protest on the Shambhu border, a location inside Punjab’s territorial jurisdiction that has witnessed quite a few situations of violence attributed to Haryana police.

The petitioner emphasised that Haryana police actions have subjected hundreds of journalists to bodily violence and gunshot wounds on the Shambhu border.

Bhalinder argued that such assaults on journalists violate the liberty of the press assured below Article 19(1)(a) and questioned the Haryana police’s authority and accountability when affecting people inside Punjab.

In mild of those allegations, the plea seeks the registration of an FIR towards the accountable police officers. Moreover, the petitioner requests the courtroom to challenge applicable directives to restrain all police authorities from participating in unwarranted beatings of journalists and assaulting harmless civilians on the Shambhu border.
