The newly framed ‘Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Guidelines, 2023’ designate tehsildars as registrars for Anand marriages inside their territorial jurisdiction.
Sikh {couples} can apply for registration inside three months of marriage, with a late payment relevant after the deadline.
The transfer has been hailed by the Sikh neighborhood, ending an identification disaster attributable to the absence of a definite Sikh marriage act.
Courting again to 1909, the Anand Marriage Act aimed to acknowledge and honor Sikh wedding ceremony customs. In 2012, the Parliament amended the Act for authorized recognition of Sikh conventional marriages.
Whereas the amendments had been permitted by the central authorities, states and Union territories had been tasked with formulating particular guidelines for Anand marriage registration.
