US aerial assault shatters historic citadel of Al-Rahba in Syria

The Ministry of Tradition on Saturday stated that the egregious aerial assault carried out by US forces had resulted in a large broken to the historic Citadel of al-Rahba, a medieval Arab fortress located on the west financial institution of the Euphrates River in al-Mayadeen metropolis, Deir Ezzor.

In an announcement, the Ministry emphasised the blatant violation of worldwide norms and conventions, particularly pointing to the breach of Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Conference, which mandates the safety and respect of cultural property.

This citadel, relationship again to the ninth century AD and generally known as Qal’at al-Rahba, holds immense historic significance. Perched atop a mound with an elevation of 244 meters (801 ft), al-Rahba instructions a strategic place overlooking the Syrian Desert steppe. Nevertheless, the ravages of time and wind erosion have left it largely in ruins.

Initially named “Rahbat Malik ibn Tawk,” the fortress performed a pivotal position within the area’s historical past. Destroyed in an earthquake in 1157, it was later rebuilt close to the desert edge by Zengid–Ayyubid lord Shirkuh, with subsequent reconstructions in 1207 and through the Mamluk period.

In a separate incident, US occupation forces performed a brazen aerial assault on Saturday within the jap area of Syria close to the Iraqi borders.

This “unprovoked” assault resulted in quite a few civilian and navy casualties, accidents, and in depth injury to each personal and public properties, additional exacerbating tensions within the already risky area, Syria stated in its assertion.
