MHA bans ‘Jamaat-e-Islami JK’ for five extra years underneath UAPA – Kashmir Reader

New Delhi: The Centre has prolonged the ban on ‘Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir’ for 5 extra years underneath the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Asserting the choice, Union house minister Amit Shah stated in a submit on X on Tuesday, “Pursuing Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s coverage of zero tolerance towards terrorism and separatism the federal government has prolonged the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir for 5 years. The organisation is discovered persevering with its actions towards the safety, integrity and sovereignty of the nation. The outfit was first declared an ‘Illegal Affiliation’ on 28 February 2019. Anybody threatening the safety of the nation will face ruthless measures.”
The final ban on the ‘Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir’ or JeI was imposed on February 28, 2019. Over 100 JeI, J&Ok members, together with its chief Abdul Hameed Fayaz had been arrested by the J&Ok Police at the moment.
A press release issued by the ministry of house affairs (MHA) on Tuesday stated “Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir is constant to be concerned in fomenting terrorism and anti-India propaganda for fuelling secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir, which is prejudicial to the sovereignty, safety and integrity of India”.
“Many legal instances have been registered towards the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir and its members underneath varied sections of regulation together with the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967,” it stated.
Earlier this month, the Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA) performed raids at 15 places throughout Jammu and Kashmir as a part of its crackdown on JeI in a militancy funding case.
The raids within the twin capitals of Srinagar and Jammu together with Budgam in central and Kulgam and Anantnag in south Kashmir led to the seizure of “incriminating paperwork” and digital gadgets related with the actions of JeI and its associated Trusts and “greater than ₹20 lakh”, an NIA spokesperson stated.
