We have talked about different destinations and places to visit, some are beautiful, some are historical, some are for adventure seekers, planet earth has various gems, man-made as well as natural, today we will add on the genre mystery in this list.
If you are interested in the mystery genre then, today’s post will give you some options of various mysterious places all over the world that you will like to add to your wish list.
AREA 51 (NEVADA)
Fairly popular and mysterious as well as controversial, the place that has intrigued the interests of conspiracy theorists and Hollywood as well, an operational secret military base, that is surrounded by desert, this secrecy has created different rumors of dangerous government experiments, staged moon landing and aliens and UFOs. Curious visitors can explore the area around the base but no one is permitted inside.
BLOOD FALLS, ANTARCTICA
The coldest and driest place on the planet earth has a crimson-hued waterfall, which is known as Blood Falls because it pours down the water that looks like pure blood. Although the mystery of blood has been solved, it is a sight that is so mysterious and intriguing that you will get Goosebumps for sure.
CORAL CASTLE, HOMESTEAD, FLORIDA
A heartbroken man decided to build a castle, and he did, what’s so mysterious in this??!!
Well, the mystery is that how he moved, cut, carved, and sculpted the coral rocks that weigh more than 1,100 tons, he built the castle over the course of 25 years, without the use of any large heavy machinery how he did it with only hand tools!! CROOKED FOREST, POLAND
And our next destination is a forest, several hundred pine trees were planted there in the 1930s, that’s pretty normal and environment friendly but the catch is that every single tree there, grew with an almost 90-degree bend at their base, it makes them look like kind of a fish hook. The sight is amazing but the real question is still unanswered that what caused them to bend like this!!
DOOR TO HELL, TURKMENISTAN
Almost 50 years ago, a crater opened up in the desert of northern Turkmenistan, the crater is thought to be created by a gas drilling mishap in which engineers had to set the area on fire to stop the spread of gases but they were unaware that the fire will remain burning this long. Known as THE DOOR TO HELL, the Darvaza crater is still burning to this day and the glow of the fire can be seen from miles away at night.
GREAT BLUE HOLE, BELIZE
As the name suggests this destination is a beautiful great blue hole that is more than 1,000 feet across and 400 feet deep. Scuba divers come here to experience its mysterious yet amazing crystal clear waters, coral reefs, and marine life.
THE GREAT PYRAMIDS OF GIZA, EGYPT
One of the most visited tourist attractions on earth; the list would be incomplete without the mention of these giant structures that are the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World that’s still intact even after thousands of years. Scholars are still curious about the tools and strategies that made the construction of these 455-foot tall pyramids possible in ancient times.

LAKE ABRAHAM, ALBERTA, CANADA
What a lake is doing in this list!! In warmer months, Lake Alberta will not be included in this list but in winter, the lake becomes a great candidate to be in this list because of the suspended white orbs that look like some Christmas magic in the frozen lake, but these cute ice bubbles are actually the dangerous orbs of flammable methane gas that is formed when organic matters of the lake decompose.
LAKE HILLIER, AUSTRALIA
Also known as the pink lake, because of its bubblegum pink waters, lake hillier is mysterious yet feels sweet to the eyes. Located next to the Pacific Ocean, the lake is safe for swimming and even has plenty of fish in its waters. The reason for the pink water is still a mystery but most probably caused by the bacteria, algae, or some sort of chemical reactions, who knows!!
LAKE NATRON, TANZANIA
The lake that has the power to turn birds into stone, also known as petrifying lake, the lake natron’s water temperature can reach up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, with a ph level of 10.5 that is nearly as high as ammonia, its water can burn the skin and eyes of animals that aren’t adapted to it. The high levels of sodium carbonate in water also act as a preservative that can mummify the birds, bats, and other animals that die in its waters. Terrific and mysterious yet surprisingly this lake is a safe breeding place for a flock of flamingos.
PLAIN OF JARS, LAOS
According to archeologists, the jars that are spread across central Laos are almost 2,000 years old. But what’s mysterious in it!! The catch is that the jars in the quantity of more than 2,000 are stand at a height of almost 10 feet with a weight of several tons, and no one has any idea of the use or purpose of these humongous jars!!
SEA OF STARS, VAADHOO ISLAND, MALDIVES
A mysterious yet mesmerizing beautiful destination that appears when billions of bioluminescent microorganisms in the water emit a glow and you get to see the view of the sea of stars. Situated in the parts of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, the view can rival the most spectacular views of the night sky or sunsets.
